Dear Friend of United Way,
"My name is Lena and I am 16 years old. I go to Innovation Central High School. Before I came to this program I was diagnosed with depression and spent most of my time by myself by choice. I thought that no one would understand me. But I started coming to this program and it helped me realize that I am not alone. I can spend time with the people I love and have a positive attitude. It also helped me choose what I want to become in life. I want to be a social worker to help others feel better, because I believe they deserve better and have the right to know they can ask for help. They don't always have to be alone."
School to Career Progressions
Behind every changed life is someone who made it happen - when you give to Heart of West Michigan United Way, that someone is you.
Through gifts from our donors, we were able to award Community Investment Grants to 72 local programs and help 159,891 people last year, including Lena. We will use your gift this year to invest in community-wide issues that are crucial to helping families in West Michigan rise out of poverty, including education, mental health, housing, food security, violence prevention, and workforce development.
By including Heart of West Michigan United Way in your year-end giving, you will extend your reach far into our community and help us ensure that everyone here has the opportunity to thrive.
All online gifts will go to our Community Investment Fund and stay right here in Kent County to support this critical work. Since 1917, contributions from donors like you have helped make our community more resilient by supporting these civic, neighborhood, and faith-based organizations that are so vital to our community's well-being.
In return, we will all benefit from building a stronger and safer community.
Give today and LIVE UNITED.
