Day of Action 2016: Food from the Heart

Thank you to everyone who volunteered at Food from the Heart for your hard work and positive energy! It certainly was a Day of Action: We packed the Van Andel Arena with 480 volunteers and packed food for 75,000 meals! The meals have been delivered to Feeding America West Michigan and will be distributed to local food pantries throughout the summer.

It made us so happy to host volunteers from our partner companies, our community, and even some visiting volunteers from Kentucky, Iowa, California, Venezuela, and Pakistan! Thanks for coming together to help our neighbors in need - and making it fun. You may have been on the news!

Please take a moment to let us know about your experience and give us your feedback through this short surveyYour feedback is very important to us.

Ready to do it again? At HWMUW.org/volunteer there are hundreds of volunteer opportunities waiting to be filled right now. You can search our database of current volunteer opportunities to find a need that fits your passion, skills, and time constraints. Once you find an opportunity, you can sign-up, track your service hours, and even earn rewards for volunteering!

You can also donate to help us solve food insecurity and other community-wide issues like housing, education, parental support, violence prevention, and workforce development. Any amount will help! For example, a $50 donation will buy a local food pantry 315 pounds of food and will give the families they serve the stamina to be productive at work, at school, and in life. See some results from last year's funding at HWMUW.org/results.

We will continue to upload photos from yesterday on our FacebookTwitter, and Instagram pages. If you have photos or posts to share, please use #FoodfromtheHeart!

We hope you have a great summer, knowing that you've made a difference for thousands of families in Kent County.

Thank you.
