West Michigan Celebrates LIVE UNITED Day

In celebration of Heart of West Michigan United Way’s 101st anniversary, the 2nd annual LIVE UNITED Day will take place on Friday, January 19, 2018, throughout Kent County.

Everyone is encouraged to get involved. Show our community how you Live United by doing a United Act of Kindness for at least one other person in your workplace, neighborhood, school, family, group of friends, or community. Community members are asked to capture their United Act of Kindness by snapping pictures or video and sharing them on social media with #unitedinservice and #liveunited.

In the spirit of living and working together in service to our community, staff and volunteers from United Way will be demonstrating ways to Live United throughout the day, including donating necessitates to local pantries, assembling coping boxes for children who have experienced abuse, and donating blankets to teens aging out of foster care. In addition to the donations, United Way’s staff will be visiting their agency partners, public safety departments, community partners, and others who work to make West Michigan a thriving community for all.

LIVE UNITED Day kicks off the year of volunteering with more events planned throughout the year, including: Fill the Cart Collection Drive in March, Food from the Heart on June 21, Stuff the Bus in August, and Day of Caring on September 14. Every day, The Volunteer Center at Heart of West Michigan United Way has over 200 opportunities in their searchable online database that individuals, families, community groups, and companies can become involved in Kent County.
