PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE: ChampionS of Change
Grand Rapids was named a City of Service, because we are a community that works together to identify challenges and solve problems. Heart of West Michigan United Way and Adam Bird Photography are teaming up again for ArtPrize 2016! This year's “Champions of Change” will feature volunteers who are making a difference in Grand Rapids and throughout Kent County. Please nominate volunteers within your organization with a deep commitment to helping others and who have shown strength, empathy, and responsiveness to your cause.
We will be featuring volunteers who are making an impact in the community, especially unsung heroes in the following areas:
- Disaster Preparedness & Response
- Diversity & Inclusion
- Education & Youth
- Food Security
- Housing & Neighborhood Revitalization
- Safety & Violence Prevention
- Violence Prevention
- Workforce Development
We are looking for volunteers with a unique story to tell who can be photographed at their volunteer site or within the community. Participants will have their portrait taken by Adam Bird Photography and will be profiled by Heart of West Michigan United Way. The portraits will be hung in the windows at United Way and will be featured on United Way’s website and social media. Please visit www.championsofchange.us to see last year's champions and view photos from the exhibit.
