Where to Volunteer as a Family This Summer

July 11, 2019

Ah, summer. A time to spend with family. A time to spend to outside! But now that we’re approaching mid-July, you might be looking for suggestions for what to do with all that time.

That’s where the Volunteer Center’s 2019 Youth and Family Volunteering Guide comes in. The guide is full of fun ideas for how kids, youth, and parents – of various ages, abilities, and interests – can make a difference in our community together.

Opportunities include beautifying Kensington Park (and taking part in a community barbecue) with Friends of Grand Rapids Parks on July 25th, collecting donated food at Fulton Street Farmers Market and distributing it to people in need with the Heartside Gleaning Initiative on Saturdays, and serving meals at the Fulton Manor Family Emergency Shelter.

Whether you want to get your hands in the dirt, prepare and serve a meal, or lend a hand at an arts event for students in special education, you can find an opportunity that’s right for you.
