At Food from the Heart, 700 volunteers will work together to create healthy meal packages. Partnering with Feeding America West Michigan, the meals will be distributed to dozens of food pantries and nonprofit agencies that will get them into the hands of families in need here in Kent County. Food from the Heart is sponsored by Kellogg’s.
Operation United will mobilize teams of volunteers to complete landscaping and outdoor home repair projects for twenty local military veterans or current service members. To serve those who served our country, Heart of West Michigan United Way will facilitate projects including stair and ramp building and repair, house painting, refuse removal, mulching, tree planting, and lawn mowing.

At this Community Forum, Heart of West Michigan United Way will present the key findings from the latest ALICE report, including the ways that rising cost of living and stagnant wages have pushed some families who were previously self-sufficient below the ALICE threshold. The forum is also an opportunity for leaders from business, government, and nonprofit sectors to discuss solutions to the challenges facing ALICE families in our community.
Join Legal Aid of Western Michigan at Heart of West Michigan United Way for donuts, coffee, and a presentation that will provide an overview of private and federal student loans and options available to reduce the burden of student loan debt, including information about Public Service Loan Forgiveness and income-based repayment programs.
