HEALTHY COMMUNITY

Because Wellbeing Shouldn’t Be a Luxury

When health suffers, everything else follows. It becomes harder to work. Harder to learn. Harder to care for others or show up in your own life. That’s why access to physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing is at the heart of a thriving community.

In West Michigan, families are navigating a growing mental health crisis, food insecurity, and the lasting effects of trauma. Too many people are slipping through the cracks. Not because they don’t need support, but because the systems designed to help them are overburdened, under-connected, or out of reach.

We believe health is not just the absence of illness. It’s the presence of support, dignity, and the ability to move forward.

Our work in Healthy Community focuses on the building blocks of daily wellbeing that often go unrecognized but are critical.

What We’re Tackling:

Mental and behavioral health support

Family navigation during times of crisis

Access to affordable, nutritious food

Community connection to reduce isolation and strengthen belonging

Because no one should face health challenges alone or be left behind by the systems meant to help. We work to ensure our neighbors don’t fall through the cracks when facing hardship.

We approach community health as more than care. It’s connection. It’s prevention. It’s removing barriers before they become crises.

Here’s how:

Expanding Access to Mental Health Care

We uplift programs that focus on providing therapy, behavioral support, and culturally responsive services, so that getting help isn’t a luxury, but a given.

Supporting Families in Crisis

We help families navigate trauma, grief, and instability — connecting them to social-emotional supports, emergency assistance, and wraparound care during their most difficult moments.

Feeding Families with Dignity

Through piloting innovative programs and partnering with food pantries, delivery services, and collaborative programs, we help make healthy, affordable food accessible.

Responding in Real Time

Our 211 helpline is often the first call people make in a health crisis. Whether it’s food, shelter, or emotional support, we connect people to help—day or night.

Health is a foundation — and when that foundation is strong, people can grow, contribute, and lead.

When someone finds a counselor who understands them, they start to heal. When food makes it to a senior’s doorstep, dignity is preserved. When a parent gets the support they need, the whole family feels it. A healthy community isn’t built overnight, it starts with showing up for one another.
