NEED FOOD ASSISTANCE • CALL 211

With the pause in SNAP benefits, Heart of West Michigan United Way is uniting community support through the United Response Fund.

The Fund will provide emergency support to local food pantries and meal programs across Allegan, Kent, and Ottawa counties—helping them meet the expected surge in demand.

While all forms of giving are appreciated, financial donations are the most effective way to help at this time. Food pantries can stretch every donated dollar much further than an individual can at the grocery store.

Together, we can ensure our community remains strong, stable, and supported. Your gift supports local food pantries by

Stocking shelves with essential items like fresh produce, dairy, and proteins.

Expanding capacity so pantries can serve more families during this period of uncertainty.

Providing flexibility for food programs to purchase exactly what’s needed, when it’s needed—maximizing every dollar’s impact.

What if SNAP Benefits Are Restored? Even if SNAP benefits return, pantry visits are already up 50–75%—and it may take time for families to receive help. Your donation bridges the gap, keeping food on shelves and neighbors supported.

Supporting Food Security Year-Round

One of our core impact areas is Healthy Communities, which focuses on improving health and well-being for all. We approach community health as more than care—it’s connection, prevention, and removing barriers before they become crises.

We believe in feeding families with dignity. Through piloting innovative programs and partnering with food pantries, delivery services, and collaborative initiatives, we help make healthy, affordable food accessible year-round. learn more >
